10 Ways to Repurpose One Single Piece of Content

10 Ways to Repurpose One Single Piece of Content
Episode 282 of Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

In this episode of Online Marketing Made Easy, Amy Porterfield provides a step-by-step guide to turn 1 piece of content into 10. Porterfield firmly believes that repurposing should be apart of the creation process; it maximizes your content and provides you with the satisfaction of sharing (in multiple ways) a message or video that you feel especially excited about.

Porterfield used her podcast as a demonstration but assures listeners that the ideas behind each step can be modified to fit other platforms. I've summarized her guide in the following list:

1. Record your podcast session.
2. Take that audio and publish it on your primary platforms: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, etc.
*** Now, for the rest of the steps, have a team help you! They will add diversity and perspective to your repurposed content.
3. Transcribe your podcast and add it to your website; having a transcript copy on a website page increases your SEO.
4. Create show notes! Cut down your transcription, create bullet points or list main points. Make sure to personalize the notes to make the reader experience better.
5. Take snippets from your outline, show notes, or podcast, add them to an email, and send it to subscribers to notify them of your newest podcast episode.
6. Have someone read through your transcript and pull out good quotes or statistics to use on social media platforms. You can do this quickly and attractively through Canva-- a free website that provides templates for all kinds of content. (Make sure to  tweak post for different platforms; the language you use in an IG post versus a FB post is different.)
7. Select a good 10-15 second audio from your podcast and use the Wavve app to create a video clip to post on social media.
8. Take the content you've created and turn it into an article for Medium.com (or other websites that allow you to post articles online).
9. Create a freebie. Porterfield likes to create checklists based off of her podcasts. After creating the checklist, she asks people to subscribe to get the freebie.
10. Use parts of your content to answer FAQ's.

While some innovators may feel confident about their creation and publication processes, I think Porterfield provides an efficient and comprehensive list. There's always room for improvement, and writing out creation/publishing plans saves time and assures that a piece of content is getting the highest amount of exposure.

  1. Great insights. The key is making sure it's content that's worth repurposing and also formatting it for each channel.
